What to see in Moscow in 1 day

Moscow is the largest tourist city in Russia. People from all over the world travel to touch the history. However, it will not be possible to visit all cultural and historical sites in one day.

But do not be discouraged, we have compiled our own route that will introduce you to the most popular sights of Moscow in one day.

The Kremlin: exploring the Red Square

If you are passing through Moscow, but you want to get to know the most popular places in the capital, do not miss the opportunity to take a three-hour tour of Red Square.

The tour begins with a study of St. Basil's Cathedral, which was built in the time of Ivan the Terrible. Not far from the temple stands an ancient monument dedicated to the iconic personalities of the people's militia – Pozharsky and Minin.

Nearby is the Spasskaya Tower. It is also called the front gate of the Kremlin.

If you're a dreamer, don't miss the kilometer zero sign. It is located right under your feet. Stop at it to flip a coin for good luck.

Alexander Garden will appeal to lovers of plants and fountains. The fountains decorated with sculptures by Zurab Tsereteli will not leave any guest of the garden indifferent. They imitate the course of the Neglinnaya River, which once flowed here.

At the end of the tour, we recommend visiting the Kremlin museums and churches on Cathedral Square. Behind the "fiery" wall, the majestic cannon of the XVII-XVIII centuries is hidden from view. To capture their scale and grandeur, we recommend taking a photo of the tsar cannon and tsar bell.

GUM

Even under the tsar, wooden shopping malls were located on Red Square. In the 19th century, a stone building was erected for trade.

Since then, the state department store has been one of the main department stores in the capital. The store acquired a modern look thanks to the project of A.N. Pomerantsev.

The historic hypermarket features more than 200 boutiques:

Even if you don't have time for shopping, GUM is worth a visit for its unique architecture. There's a lot to see here.

Museums

There are more than 400 museums and various exhibitions in the capital. Among them:

Moscow's main parks

VDNKH

A park that the older generation speaks of with trepidation. It all depends on the fact that most of the pavilions embody post-Soviet culture.

However, every year, more and more modern expositions appear. For example, the Cosmos Pavilion. Rocket parts and space satellites are shown here. Where else will you see this live?

The Robotstation pavilion will be interesting for young visitors. This is the largest robotics exhibition in the country. More than 3,000 square meters of space divided into interactive zones.

In winter, the largest and most beautiful skating rink in the capital is open at VDNKh. Concerts are held in the summer.

Admission is free. Some pavilions have an entrance fee starting from 200 rubles.

Ostankino Tower

This is a special attraction of the city, which tours have been at the top of Moscow's tourist programs for more than a year.
